My love of design began long ago when my patient mother would allow me to construct enormous Barbie houses in our living room that would stay set up for days on end. I would thoughtfully place each piece of furniture, and almost always created architectural elements with common household items. Often, the most fun I had was in designing the space!
I’ve always loved the classic, laid-back, eclectic style of the west coast. I credit my California roots for that. The sweet simplicity and functionality of Scandinavian design also feel very much a part of me. I credit my Finnish heritage for that (as well as the two i’s in my name). I’ve lived near the ocean, the mountains, and now the wide-open plains, and I find beauty in them all! After graduating from Colorado State University in 2006 with a degree in interior design, I’ve worked in both commercial and residential interiors across the country. Now that I’m settled in Fort Worth, Texas, I bring my passion for style and detail to the Lone Star State.
My first rule of design is that the space should reflect the individual. Interiors should tell a story. In my own home I display photography and artwork that evoke memories of the people I love and the places where I’ve lived and explored.
My second rule of design is that style doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Good design can be almost anywhere – you just have to find it (that’s part of the fun!). I want to focus on bringing an eclectic mix of patterns, textures, modern style, and vintage elements to create spaces that are unique and personalized.
