Monday Inspiration

Well, it’s been a wild couple of weeks around here.
We just returned from a family visit, where we celebrated the Dude’s first birthday!!
I cannot believe that he’s already a year old.
It seems like overnight he’s begun walking around the house (which still makes me do a double-take), exploring new things and creating more mischief…
But that face?
I can’t ever get too frustrated…even if he DOES leave a trail of debris wherever he goes.
We’ve been working on the nursery (updates coming soon!), as well as the master bedroom, and a couple of quick changes I’ve been meaning to finish FOR-EV-ER… Lots of changes going on around here. I can’t wait to share them!
Today’s post was going to be something completely different, but as soon as the daily e-mail from Domino popped into my inbox, I knew I had to share.
…and it has everything to do with the tiny fact that I’m coveting this kitchen in a MAJOR way…
The inspiration for this week comes from the renovated home of designer Laruen Liess. Liess updated the 1970’s home with a bright, clean interior that’s sprinkled with vintage pieces to help the home look comfortable and collected – but in a really cool way.
She knocked down walls, added windows, and let the lush textiles, and variety of metal and wood accents to shine against a clean white interior.
Like I said before, I’m coveting this kitchen. I’m usually really scared of open shelves (I like to have the option to hide all the crap that’s in my kitchen…) but I love these. Especially how the vintage feel of the metal contrasts the modern cabinetry.
The overall balance of modern and collected character is just about perfect. I’ve always loved those barstools, too! I’ve been trying to find a way to incorporate them into my home for ages!
Bummer I don’t actually have a bar….
The rest of the home is simple, comfortable, and well styled.
The black doors, trim, and other accents are just, well… yummy! They help the space feel cohesive without looking too matchy-matchy. Always a good thing.
Check out the entire feature (complete with before and after photos) here.
Happy birthday to your little guy! I used to follow Lauren’s blog but then she stopped posting about it specifically to get featured in shelter mags so I’m so glad to actually have the chance to see it. It’s soooo good!
I know. I shouldn’t covet, but I totally do! It’s just fabulous!
