Lusting for Leopard
Not to be confused with The Lusty Leopard (…if you watch How I Met Your Mother, you’ll get that.)
I’ve always had a thing for fur. Lately, it’s beginning to transform into a “I-must-have-leopard-somewhere-in-my-house-right-now!” kind of thing.
It all started a few seasons ago when I bought the perfect leopard print silk blouse.
It became a closet staple, and went ridiculously well with so many things.
The result was a new neutral.
Do I think it can have the same effect in an interior setting?
Now, I’m not saying to run and deck out your home in gaudy jungle cat overload, but a well, and maybe unexpected, placement of key pieces could be just the chic update you’re looking for.
I was completely inspired by designer Stephen Shubel’s 2008 renovation of his San Francisco workspace/loft. I love the unexpected places (hello, stairs!) he’s incorporated this fun print.
And why not?
Okay. Technically it’s a cheetah print, but…
Okay, seriously? Could you get any more adorable?
(Well, maybe if your a Boston Terrier named, Big or a Jack Russell named, Belle… I’m just saying…)
So, as for my own home, I decided to ease my hubby into the idea by incorporating some leopard throw pillows.
You know, just to see how he’d react.
So far he hasn’t said a word. That could be good or bad.
Wouldn’t I just LOVE to have some of these Scalamandre Leopardo Silk Velvet Pillows? Yes. Yes, I would:
But…considering there would be puppy paws all over them (…and they may just be a bit out of my budget, but we’ll just say it’s the puppy paws…), I decided to try out these on a whim for my test run:
They’re working out well, but I’d really like ones that are closer to the silk velvet or even in a lumbar pillow. Plus, I can use these in another place I have planned (See? Easing him in…).
I’ll probably end up getting something like these as the final option:
…or even these
(Okay, maybe not for this area, but I saw them and I love them so I had to share…):
Maybe I should just ease into phase II… I’ve been thinking of reupholstering these bad boys:
What do you think?
