Tips & Tricks Thursday – Monkey See, Monkey Do
I can’t take credit for todays T&T.
No, not at all.
It’s an awesome, simple, and inexpensive DIY that I saw (and fell in love with) over on Surrounded by Pretty. This super-fab blog is written by my friend, Stephanie – and she definitely finds pretty everywhere! Great tips, design ideas, and (as of a couple of days ago) yummy recipes! What’s not to love?
So, when I saw this idea for this quick DIY makeover back in August, I jumped at the chance to do it myself.
(…I’m not mentioning the fact that it’s now the end of October… almost three months to complete a DIY project. Actually, that’s not too bad when you consider my track record…)
I actually have had two of these Ikea Lindved side tables in my guest room for years. (P.S. They’re only $20/ea!) The only thing I really needed was some gold spray paint and time.
Yesterday, the stars aligned, and I everything fell into place:
Tip: Use Rust-Olium for metallic spray paint. I’ve tried other brands. They are not fabulous. This is.
I detached the table top piece and separated the legs from the bottom tray
I took the extra time to layer my coats of paint.
Tip: Be patient, and let each coat dry (it doesn’t take long, I promise) to avoid overly wet spots that pool.
The Finished Product
I’m really pleased with how they turned out. Now I just need to style them (story of my life…)
Overall, the whole project took me just over 2 hours for both tables – and that was trying to multitask a few other things along with this project.
Plus, it the total cost was less than $50!
Quick and inexpensive? That makes momma really happy!
