Small Home Update

And we’re talking really small…like a “couple of throw pillows” small.

But, they do make a (small) difference, and add a little bit of that ‘fall’ feel that I’ve been craving for so long.

You might remember my recent trip to Target (The one where I didn’t buy anything I didn’t need? Yeah.  That hasn’t happened since…), well, I ended up going back and picking up those cute pillows.  After some quick rearranging here’s what I came up with:

Don’t judge my empty frames.

Yup.

They’re still empty.

Someday… Someday…

I started off with with a symmetrical look, using the white fur, plaid, and Greek key on both sides of the sofa.

I didn’t like it.

So, I rotated through a ridiculous amount of random throw pillows I had around the house.  And after what seemed like 50 different styles (and a solid 45 minutes), I settled back on a neutral color palette with the Greek key as a third accent.  I also got rid of the second plaid pillow.  Having both of them on the sofa made the space feel a little too traditional (I threw the other one on my white desk chair to add a punch of pattern to my office area).  I changed the location of my black and white Ikea throw to give some visual balance, and voila!

And now I’m off to finally tackle some long awaited DIY projects.

Looks great! I love your sofa, just what we will be getting soon I hope 🙂
Do you find your footstool gets in the way? We’d like one but were wondering if it’s necessary with a corner sofa too.

    • Thanks! We actually had the ottoman from before we bought the sofa, and decided to give it a go to see how it would work. We love it! Since it’s our TV room, we spend a lot of time just lounging out (shameful, I know…). It’s nice to be able to kick up our feet and relax. I don’t know if it would be my first choice if I were to use the sofa in a more formal living space, but for now it works really well for us! Hope that helps!

  2. Love the variety of pillows, I keep buying crazy pillows myself, and somehow they’re working (tiger, striped, geometric), but I’m digging the more neutral look.

And in regards to your DIY, take it from me, anything with metallic gold spray paint will be amazing. (…..and secretly wondering if it’s what I think it is…..)

    • I love the idea of a variety of pillows! I’ve actually been thinking about adding a leopard print into the fall mix. Animal print? Yes, please.

As for the DIY, you’re probably right. Haha! I’ll just call you my solid gold inspiration!
