I Love You, Jeff Lewis
Of course, not in a creepy way. Well, not totally.
Much like Kelly Wearstler, I’d like to think that if Jeff Lewis and I knew each other, we’d be besties. So, he’s kind of my other BFIMM (best friend in my mind). I had a moment of down time yesterday (…which are very few and far between these days…), and I found a mini-merathon of his show, Interior Therapy, on Bravo (…ahh the reality train wrecks, I mean TV of Bravo. What’s not to love?).
Not to mention, that every time I watch, I feel a small, comforting connection to my Southern California home. But that’s just an added bonus.
But more than that, I just love his personality (even the irrational flip-outs) – especially his naughty sense of humor (Plus, I think I’d fit right in with Jenny, Zoila, and the rest of the gang. I’m just saying….). I love that he speaks his mind and has no qualms with telling people what they need to hear.
I’ll be honest, as a designer, I’m probably a bit too nice when it comes to clients. I have a tendency to sugar coat the negatives, and try not to hurt anyones feelings (“No, those chairs aren’t hideous eyesores that make me want to throw up, they’re just a bit outdated.”)
I blame my people-pleasing personality. I guess I just wish I could be a bit more like Jeff sometimes and lay it all out there…. what I’m really thinking. I’d love to get rid of the filter every once and a while.
So here’s to you my BFIMM, Jeff Lewis. Your style is always cool, sophisticated, and timeless. You, well, you are just awesome (…just don’t yell at me). We should get together with Kelly sometime. Now that would make for an interesting time…
Jeff’s got his formula down.
Modern patterns, earthy colors, and clean silhouettes – totally appeals to the OCD side of my personality.
