The List Rears It’s Ugly Head…
There aren’t enough hours in the day…
Labor Day is fast approaching, and being the official “end of summer” there has never been another time where this has felt more apparent.
Where has the time gone?
Well. That would take up an entirely new post…
Needless to say, the summer has vanished into my rearview mirror, leaving behind a long list of things left to do.
I don’t write this post to lament (well, maybe just a little bit…), but rather to wrap my scattered brain around the things I’d like to finish before 2015… well, better make that 2020 at the rate I’m going.
Now, these pics (especially my bedroom!) make me feel “design-naked”. Totally exposed. Totally “in process”.
1. My bedroom
This has long been on “The List“, and after a number of fits and starts, I want to finally have some form of complete design. I always advise clients to take the time to design their sleeping space as a retreat for relaxation and recharging. Do as I say, and not as I do, right?
Ultimately, my bedroom has fallen victim to the “I’ll take care of it later…” mantra. So much so that I’m already tired of my original design (the one in my head, that never quite made it to full manifestation…), and slowly (…s.l.o.w.l.y…) shaping a new vision – which I’ll share next week!
(warning… poor picture quality ahead…which means the benches appear WAY too orange, the grey walls have a weird greenish tint, and my Mongolian pillows look off white…)
Here’s what it looks like now:
You might remember my post about changing my tv room artwork. Well? I’ve gotten this far – frames. Just sad, empty, lonely frames. At least they’re hung up.
I’m not a fan of my kitchen. That’s just the truth. I hate the floor tile, backsplash, and the cabinet faces are not really my style. But, I’m not really willing to invest in a complete renovation. So, as a consolation, I’ve been looking for ways to cover up the ugly.
I was experimenting with different pulls, and got so far as to change out one set of cabinets (Whoop!). I’ve also been searching for the “perfect” rug to cover up the heinous, builder-grade tile on the floor (Orange? Really? Who chooses that?) – which the pictures show as much more tame than in real life. Finally, I’m still all about changing out the light above the sink. I think that was on The List last time, which is appropriate because I’m lame and never get anything finished in my own home.
4. Dining Room
Saarinen table and lighting.
It’s not that difficult.
Get it together.
How about you?
Do you have any projects that you mean to finish, but just end up with a permanent spot on “The List”?
It will make me feel better…
