Monday Morning Inspiration… Back to Reality

It’s always nice to get away.

Even though our trip was spurred by tragic circumstances, the time spent with family was a major silver lining.

Let me just take a minute to say that I will miss my beautiful aunt more than I can express.  At 64, she was taken away from us far too soon.  She was one of those people who had the uncanny ability to make you feel important and loved – and do it in a very genuine way.  She was beautiful inside and out.   I feel very grateful for the life she led and the example she set for me.

The interesting segue is that she, too, was an interior designer and had a love of beautiful things.

…I think she would have loved today’s inspiration.

I found it on Houzz.com and was struck by the open, airy feel of this classic kitchen remodel.  So…I’m essentially reblogging it.

I love how the owners of this historic Atlanta home updated the previous (and…’cough’…’cough’…kind of generic…) kitchen renovation to reflect detail and charm.  Not to mention massive amounts of natural light, a more open layout, and beautifully crafted finishes (…huge sucker for white, brass, and wood finishes over here!)

I’d like to think that someday I’ll live in a home with a kitchen like this…  LOVE!

Obsessing over the contrast of rustic wood and clean white walls touched with black accents.

Here’s to inspiration for another week!

  1. That wooden beam and the island are gorgeous against all the white cabinetry.

I’m so sorry about Aunt Helena. 😦 She was far too young. XO

  2. Wow, talk about adding character!

I’m sorry for your loss :-/ One of my professors died over the weekend and she was only 65…it feels like such a young age. Peace be with you!

    • Thanks, Jennifer. It’s been a difficult time, but I’m grateful for the fresh perspective I have on life right now.

As for adding character, this was a definite ‘wow’. I just keep thinking, “someday….”. Someday. Ha!
