Be Blushing

Ahh, Blush… The soft color of spring. We’re beginning to see it sweep across the runway (much like a soft spring breeze, no?).
It’s a more modern take on the usual pastel palette of the past Spring seasons – not to mention an interesting alternative to bold colors like Pantone’s color of the year – Emerald Green.
Now, we all know the saying “what’s old is new again”, and this case is no exception.
It’s been called buff, petal, ballet slipper, pale pink… and now for 2013 – Blush. Those crazy designers… have you noticed that last year’s “mint” is now being called “pistachio” for 2013? Tricky. Tricky. Tricky…
But I’m getting off topic here (suprized?).
What I’m really liking this incarnation of blush is its softer undertone that helps it work as a neutral, but in a really sophisticated way. Translating that into interiors means it’s a chic pairing with bright and bold accents or subtle and soft tones. It also looks great used in luxe fabrics (think satin and soft cashmere). The key is balance. Tone down a luxe satin with an earthier texture (raffia? jute? a plush mongolian fur pillow? – I’m just saying…) or create an unexpected pairing with a bright, graphic print…or, set the mood with a subtle and serene monochromatic design by pairing blush with soft whites and brass accents (my favorite way to style it!).
Here are some of my pics to make your interior blush…
…yes, cheesy pun intended…
How do you feel about blush?
Love it? Hate it?
I’d love to hear!
I love blush especially with mint (or should I say pistachio 😉 and gold.
And yes I have noticed the mint and pistachio switch. But I still call it mint because I like it better!
I do like it, but it feels very feminine to me….can’t see the hubby going for it. Maybe if paired with greys like the Kendall Wilkinson photo…
I’m thinking small, small doses… 😉
