5 Things to Update Your Space Now!

It would actually be more appropriate to title this post:

FIVE THINGS THAT I WANT RIGHT NOW!!

These aren’t necessarily the spring “trends” (bold geometrics, florals, emerald green… well, maybe a little bit of emerald) for the sake of being trendy.  These are more just things that I’m majorly loving right now, and if they happen to be a “trend”, then so be it!

Don’t get me wrong, I love incorporating trendy things in fun ways, but sometimes keeping up with all of them can be exhausting (…am I right?).

I actually feel that many of these pieces are timeless, and can create an overall chic aesthetic.  Plus, they can add a touch of something special to help update any interior.

Here is my covet list:

1.  AGATE

When I was little I collected geodes.  I figure this is the “grown-up” version of that.  The crystal trend has been around for a while, but I really just love the texture, colors, and of course the sparkle.

I’ve ordered the coasters (and am still coveting the bookends) with the wheels in my head turning on how to display them… I’m thinking of contrasting the organic feel of the stone with something really modern.

2. KNOLL CESCA SIDE CHAIR

I was talking with a friend on Sunday night (…okay, I was lamenting about how I wanted my Saarinen dining table, like, right now!), and he was telling me about how he had one growing up and how his family also had the Knoll Cesca chairs (swoon).  We were commenting on what a shame it was that they didn’t keep them.

Cesca Chair

Serious.

Shame.

I’ve always loved these chairs.  Unfortunately, at almost $700 starting price, they’re just a BIT out of my budget.  I’ve been searching for a replica style that’s more wallet friendly, and came upon the Bauhaus Armchair from Restoration Hardware.  They’re not exactly the same, but still pretty cool looking (especially in the Brown or Black Oak Drifted finish), and at $169 each (on sale), they’re a MUCH easier pill to swallow.

3.  MALACHITE PILLOWS FROM WHITLOCK & CO.

Have I mentioned that Whitlock & Co. is my favorite go-to for pillows on Etsy?

No?

Well, it is.

I’ve ordered a total of five pillows, and they’ve all been fantastic.  The quality is excellent, and I love that the stock is continually updated with on-trend fabrics.

Which brings me to this little gem.

Malachite Pillows

It was love at first sight.  The color (hello, color of the year!)… the pattern… what’s not to love?

Now I just need to figure out where I can put it in my house…

4.  OVERSIZED BOTANICAL PRINTS

I saw this picture on Pinterest, and became a little obsessed.  I’m on the hunt to find these exact prints, but until then I’ve been looking for some suitable stand-ins.

The size is a fresh take on something that could otherwise feel played out.  Contrasted with a more contemporary interior, they add just the right amount of interest and visual organic texture.  LOVE.

5.  TOM DIXON BEAT LIGHT IN STOUT WHITE

Oh, how I wish I had an island in my kitchen…

…then this awesome light would have a home.

6. HONORABLE MENTION – What I’m STILL not over…

 FUR

I would use these small faux pelts in every room of my house if I could.  Seriously.

I mean, really, how great is this?

BRASS ACCENTS

Still classic.  Still love them.  I will never stop.
