New Trend For 2013 – It’s In The Trees
Maybe it’s the Scandinavian blood, or maybe its just that I want what I can’t have – but I am obsessed with the Anthopologie Woods wallpaper right now. I can’t have it because I live in an old house that someone else “renovated” (Yes, I’m using the quotes to imply sarcasm. Lots of sarcasm.) and the texture on my walls more or less resembles swiss cheese.
I loving the organic look of birch patterns right now.
I think that after a few seasons of strong patterns like chevron and lattice, as well as those bold “pops” of color, a softer, more natural look is really refreshing. Don’t get me wrong. I love some bold patterns (Ahem. Big, bold, striped drapery panels, anyone?), but there’s something very soothing about this woodland look. Plus, they make a killer (and on-trend) contrast to all of the bold color that’s so popular right now.
What a way to be ahead of the curve!
I also love the versatility of this pattern (meaning use it in the room of your choice!). As I said before, you can pair it with bold pops of color for a “modern-eclectic” mix, or use it as an unexpected detail to contrast a modern interior – styling it with clean lines and simple shapes (my favorite!).
You can also play it up with texture – like fur accents (love!) or creamy painted woods.
Any way you work it, this subtle-tree pattern will take any trendy interior to the next level (I call it Über-Chic!)…
