Tips & Tricks Thursday – New Year’s Eve

I love a good party.  And now that Christmas is in the past, we can make way for the granddaddy of ALL parties….  New Year’s Eve!

There was once a time (way back in those far gone days of my early 20’s) where I couldn’t wait to get all glammed up, leave the house around 11pm, and party until the wee-early hours of the morning.  (I even braved Las Vegas for New Years Eve 1999 – Yikes!).

I’ll admit it, now that I’m a bit older (but no wiser – I’m sure of it), nothing sounds better than coming home at 10pm, washing my face, throwing on a pair of comfy pants, and eating a lime popsicle (Sooo addicting) in front of the TV with my husband.

Still, New Year’s Eve has a special feeling to it.  It’s a time to forget the past and look toward what’s to come – and for that, I’ll stay out past 10pm anytime.

Now if I could just convince my husband…

In my mind, there are a few design tips for making a New Year’s Eve party truly special.

They include (but are not limited to):

a bit of whimsy…

a bit of sparkle…

and something that’s just a bit over the top…

HERE ARE SOME OF MY FAVORITE LOOKS TO RING IN THE NEW YEAR:

I love the use of bold table runners laid out along the shorter width of the table.

The rich jewel tones are a fun way to add some punch with color while keeping a sophisticated look.

An easy and quick way to create a sparkly wonderland.

Just add crape paper and tinsel!

I love the minimalist approach here.

Silver chargers, clear glass plates, and a few crystal clocks to get the point across.

The horned centerpieces add just the right amount of interest and, dare I say, sparkle…

Who WOULDN’T want to celebrate at this table?  Seriously.  It’s just magical.

Like  a winter wonderland with my favorite …fur draped over each chair.

The perfect way to offset all of the glass and crystal.  Love!

Now, this is fun!

It kind of reminds me of cotton candy and Dalmatians.

…but in a good way.

What better way to add some sparkle, than to use an actual sparkler!

Love!

  1. The Winter Wonderland Taste of Home pic has to be my favorite! If there’s ever a night to act sophisticated, it’s New Year’s Eve. This would fit the bill perfectly!
