Tips & Tricks Thursday: Mixing It Up

Last week, I shared a few quick and easy ticks for breathing new life into a space that seems stale.  One of those ways was to swap out throw pillows for a fresh look.

Today I thought I’d take my own advice and experiment a little bit with my living room.  As I said before, I’ve been feeling the itch for change recently (and we haven’t even hit the two year mark.  What gives?!).

With my living room as the unsuspecting guinea pig, I’ve swapped my pillows (and shuffled around a few accessories) for two different looks in the same space.

Look #1 plays into my love of bold patterns.  Using graphic yellow chevron print (which I LOVE) and deep navy lattice pillows, I hoped to give our (old) brown leather sofa a modern twist.

Look #2 tones it down a bit and pushes more toward texture with the knotty throw and the embroidered pillows (which I’m loving more and more).

(Oh, and just a fair warning… I got a little camera happy!)

Which one do you prefer?

  1. I want to house crash you! Your living room is gorgeous!! I like Look #1 the best. The pop of bright color just totally does it for me.

  4. I think I like Look #2. I dig the texture and pattern on the pillows in the second look. They allow the bold pattern on the rug to anchor the room, while giving a more comfortable, cozy feel to the couch – especially with the chunky, white throw draped across it. And, I like the succulents on the coffee table. They add an organic element, but don’t block the fabulous eye candy you have on the shelf below.

    Great photography by the way!

  5. They both look great! Change is good! You have a talent for putting it all together. I did some ‘nesting’ and ‘tweaking’ this weekend also.
