Mira Vista, Phase Two

The downstairs renovation of the Mira Vista home (aka – Phase Two) is in full swing.  Demolition of the master and guest baths is complete, and painting of the bedrooms should be finished tomorrow.  After that, we move forward with tile and stone installation.  It’s a hectic time in the project, with daily check-in’s and site walks, but fun to see the vision coming together.

The crew at Total Quality Restoration has been working hard to move things along on schedule.  After the master suite and guest areas are complete we’ll move forward with the kitchen and family room renovation.

My clients (who’ve been courageous enough to live upstairs during construction) will finally leave the chaos and relocate to a temporary residence until the project is complete.  I keep thinking how nice it will be for them to leave the work zone that their house has become, and to return to it being a peaceful, chaos-free, newly renovated home.  Of course it’ll only be chaos free until we begin the furniture selections.

But that’s another story…

Here are some pics I snapped today to document the progress along with some shots of the space before demolition. Here’s to keeping the ball rolling!

Time to bring this interior a light and airy face lift!

Master Bedroom Fireplace:

We’ve bulked up the existing fireplace surround with some trim and are preparing to shrink the old tv opening to accommodate a flat screen, flush to the wall.

Here’s a peek into the direction we’re taking in the master bathroom.  In order to lighten the space we are replacing the existing countertop with a Calcutta marble slab.  We’re exchanging the “wall of mirrors” for three custom mirrors, each of which will be flanked with sconces.  Add to that a light 24″ travertine on the floor (with pillowed travertine tiles in the shower) and our light and airy face-lift is almost complete.  The finishing touches will be a beautiful Robert Allen fabric valance and vanity chair, with a plush rug in soft greens and blues.  The perfect balance to the existing deep cherry wood cabinets.

Renovation is always exciting but can be stressful. I think I will keep this from my husband or he might get the “bug”. Can’t wait for the after pics!
