Mira Vista home. Coming along…

Last July, I was hired to draw up some built-in casework plans for a home renovation in the Mira Vista community.  Well, drawings for built-ins grew into sketches for the new family room fireplace… which then, in turn, grew into fabric and finish selection for the upstairs remodel… which has now grown into selections for the downstairs remodel.  The process has been a bit unorthodox, but fun none the less!

…and what’s fun without a little blood, sweat, and tears?  Well, maybe not the blood.  But definitely sweat and maybe even a few tears.  Out of town schedules (first the client’s, then mine!) over the first 3 weeks of the project forced us all to adapt, much to the annoyance of the poor contractor.  But, after utilizing the wonders of modern technology through phone calls and text messages (thank you for unlimited data plans!) we worked our way through it, and have finally finished the basics of the upstairs- paint, new carpet, built-in’s, and complete bathroom overhaul.  Next we’ll focus on dressing the space with furniture and fabrics.  Here are some pics of the work in progress.

We chose a warm gray for the walls, and a simple carpet to coordinate with the existing furniture. Can’t wait to see the valances with the great Ikat fabric we chose! New light fixtures are on the way, too.

Updated this formerly mirrored wall with new casework.

Additional casework detail.  Please ignore the yellow from my flash! (note to self: invest in a new camera)

A new facade for the existing casework, complete with faux crown moulding and enough room for the requested 55″ TV!

Crown moulding close up. Simple and elegant profile.

The bathroom vanity looks great in person. The color is a deep smokey gray (not picked up on camera) which contrasts beautifully with the various colors of the granite.

A little bit better shot of the casework color

Even better depiction of the true color. Now to add the finishing touches with linens and accessories

A great shot of the granite. Love the dimensional color!

Things continue to move forward as my clients steadfastly move into the upstairs of their home while we begin work on the downstairs.  I’ve never been a fan of living in construction zones.  These two are definitely troopers!

To be continued….
